Sacrament of Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is a beautiful initiation into the Christian faith, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey with Christ. At St. Peter’s Church, we celebrate the profound significance of Baptism and warmly welcome individuals of different age groups into our faith community.
For Infants
For infants, please call the rectory office at 845-429-2196 to obtain information or arrange a baptism. We celebrate baptisms on the second Sunday of the month in English and on the third Sunday of the month in Spanish. As parents, we invite you to attend Mass on two Sundays and have the parish Sunday bulletin signed by the priest or deacon after Mass. Additionally, there is one preparation meeting that both parents and godparents are required to attend.
Children Age 7+
For children who are 7 years or older and seeking baptism, please call the rectory office at 845-429-2196. Our team will provide you with the necessary information and guide you through the preparation process.
Adults 18+
Adults (18 years and older) who wish to receive the Sacrament of Baptism are also invited to call the rectory office at 845-429-2196. They will have the opportunity to participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A.) program. This transformative program offers a comprehensive faith formation experience, culminating in the celebration of Baptism at the Easter Vigil each year.
We are dedicated to supporting individuals and families as they prepare for the Sacrament of Baptism. Our clergy and faith mentors are here to guide, answer questions, and provide spiritual support throughout the process.
