Advent: A Time to Awaken the Heart

As we celebrate the First Sunday of Advent, we begin a season filled with hope, longing, and joyful expectation. Advent invites us to pause in the midst of our routines, to quiet our hearts, and to prepare a place for Christ who desires to draw near to us.

This holy season reminds us that God comes gently—in the silence, in the waiting, and in the small moments where we open ourselves to His grace. As we light the first candle of the Advent wreath, may its soft glow strengthen our hope, renew our faith, and guide us toward the peace only Christ can give.

Together as a parish family, let us walk this journey of preparation with open hearts, ready to welcome the Lord with gratitude, trust, and joy.

Together in Faith and Purpose

This Sunday’s Gospel invites us to place our trust not in earthly things, but in God’s unfailing presence. Jesus reminds us that challenges will come, yet He promises that through perseverance and faith, we will find strength and salvation.

As we continue this month dedicated to family and vocations, we reflect on the many ways God is at work in our homes and in the lives of those discerning His call.

Our families shape our faith, and our vocations give us a path to live that faith in service, love, and purpose.

May this week encourage us to stay rooted in prayer, to support one another, and to remain faithful in every season. Together in faith and purpose, let us trust the Lord who guides, accompanies, and sustains us.

Thank you to all who planned, prepared, volunteered, served, donated, and participated in any way. Your generosity, time, and dedication allowed our parish to honor our pastor in a truly memorable way.

Week 3

December 14th – December 20th

Together in Faith and Purpose

Today we celebrate the Third Sunday of Advent, Gaudete Sunday — a day marked by joy, because the Lord is near.

In this week’s Gospel, John the Baptist seeks reassurance, and Jesus responds through signs of God’s love: the blind see, the lame walk, and the poor receive good news. His answer reminds us that God is at work — often quietly, but powerfully — bringing healing, hope, and renewal.

As we continue our Advent journey, may this Sunday encourage us to rejoice with confidence, trusting that Christ is drawing close to our hearts, our homes, and our parish community.

Rejoice — for the Lord is near.

Many of them continue to pray for us daily, even in retirement.

Let us remember the true meaning of this season — a time of hope, peace, joy, and love.

Week 4

December 21st – December 27th

Together in Faith and Purpose

In today’s Gospel, we hear the story of Saint Joseph—a man faced with uncertainty, fear, and a future he did not expect. Yet when God speaks, Joseph listens.

Through a dream, the angel reveals God’s plan and reassures him: “Do not be afraid.” Joseph responds not with questions or hesitation, but with trust and obedience.

This Gospel reminds us that the coming of Christ was marked by quiet faith and courageous yeses. God chose to enter the world not through power or certainty, but through humble hearts willing to trust. The child to be born will be called Emmanuel—“God is with us”—a promise that speaks to every moment of our lives.

As we enter the final days of Advent, may we follow Joseph’s example. May we listen for God’s voice, trust even when we do not fully understand, and prepare our hearts to welcome Christ—who comes to dwell with us, always.

Three Kings Day – Toy Drive

Sunday, January 4, at the St. Peter School Gym at 2:00 p.m.

This beautiful tradition commemorates the visit of the Magi to the newborn Jesus, who followed the star to honor Him and present their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Their journey reminds us that Christ came for all people and calls us to seek Him with faith, hope, and generous hearts.

This special celebration is hosted by Latinas of Real Estate, who have generously donated all of the toys that will be shared with the children. Through their kindness and support, families will be able to gather and experience the joy of this meaningful tradition in a spirit of community and giving.

We invite our parish community to come together and share in the joy, faith, and love that Three Kings Day represents.
